– The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Office (ORO) has
recognized an Oak Ridge-based company for outstanding safe work
performance at the Transuranic (TRU) waste processing center, located on
the border of Roane and Anderson counties.
EnergX was acknowledged for achieving 1,687 days

four years.

commitment to doing this work safely, while at the same time, involving
their workers in the planning and execution of that work."
EnergX manages the TRU Waste Processing Center (formerly known as the
TRU/Alpha Low Level Waste Treatment Project) for the DOE ORO Environmental
Management Program. The facility disposes of liquid and solid TRU waste
with remote and contact handled capabilities, incorporating features which
accomplish goals of minimal environmental impact, safe operation and ease
of decommissioning/ minimization of TRU contaminated waste.
"EnergX is extremely proud of our employees at the TRU Waste Processing
Center," said Tony Buhl, President and CEO of EnergX. "Their dedication to doing work safely is evident
in everything they do. Every one of us shares DOE's vision to clean
up Oak Ridge and surrounding areas for the well being of our citizens, our grandchildren, and future
generations."
The DOE ORO safety awards program began in 2005, and since its inception has presented six other contractor organizations
awards of excellence in safety performance.
